AARP is a non-profit, non-partisan charity whose members help people aged 50 and above improve their lives. AARP Services and AARP Foundation was founded in 1958 by Ethel Perciandross, a retired California teacher.
AARP has offices in all 50 states. District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and U.S. Virgin Islands. AARP is run by a board of 22 volunteers.

The members of our non-profit, non-partisan charity come from three generations and reflect a wide range of views, cultures, and lifestyles.
Approximately one-third of AARP members work full-time or part-time, while most of the others are retirees.
AARP does not support candidates for public office, nor does it provide assistance for political campaigns or candidates.

What is AARP going to do

AARP conducts prospective research on topics that are important to our members. Our Public Policy Institute publishes important reports on economic security, health and community life, and other topics.
AARP is a leader in international government and non-governmental organizations. AARP’s international initiative encourages the exchange of ideas and the search for innovative ways to deal with aging.
The Life @ 50+ annual national event and exhibition lasted for three days, bringing wonderful performances, information, and entertainment to more than 25,000 members and non-members. The 2011 event will be held in Los Angeles, California.

AARP Services and AARP Foundation Bulletin, a newspaper that appears on the Internet ten times a year; AARP VIVA, a quarterly magazine that provides additional radio and television programs; two radio programs during prime time.
